These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of writteninhope.com and the services offered by Written in Hope LLC ("Written in Hope," "we," "us"). By using our website or engaging our services, you agree to these Terms.
Written in Hope creates personal life-story books and family archives through guided conversations, historical research, writing, editing, and book production. The collections, prices, and inclusions described on our website are a general guide and may change.
Every project begins with a written project agreement that sets out the scope, participants, schedule, price, payment terms, travel costs, review rounds, and cancellation terms for your family. If your project agreement and these Terms differ, the project agreement controls.
Prices are listed in U.S. dollars. Travel costs for in-person visits are quoted separately and agreed before booking. Payments are processed securely by Stripe. Payments, cancellations, and refunds are governed by the Refund and Cancellation Policy below and by your project agreement.
Many projects are arranged as gifts. If you arrange a project for someone else, you confirm that the storyteller, or their authorized representative, agrees to take part. The storyteller may pause a conversation, take a break, decline any question, or leave a subject out at any time. We may pause or reschedule a project if the storyteller is unwilling or unable to continue, and we will discuss the options with you.
You keep ownership of the photographs, documents, letters, and recordings you share with us. You confirm that you have the right to share them, and you give us permission to use them to research, create, print, and deliver your project. Please share copies rather than irreplaceable originals whenever possible; if we agree to handle originals, we will take reasonable care, but we cannot be responsible for loss or damage beyond our control.
Memories are personal and may differ from the historical record or from other people's recollections. We research historical context using sources we believe to be reliable, distinguish general history from personal memory, and flag details we cannot confirm. Family review is the time to check names, dates, and relationships. We are not responsible for inaccuracies in information provided by the storyteller or the family.
Once your project is paid in full, you may reproduce and share your finished book and archive for personal and family use. Until then, Written in Hope keeps ownership of the transcripts, research, writing, and designs it has created. Written in Hope keeps its rights in its layouts, templates, methods, and general research, and may print additional copies only at your request. We will not publish your story or use it in our marketing without your written permission.
Our services are a creative and historical-writing service. They are not therapy, counseling, medical, legal, financial, or certified genealogical services.
The text, images, sample chapters, and designs on this website belong to Written in Hope LLC or its licensors and are protected by copyright. You may view and share pages for personal use, but you may not copy, sell, or republish our content without our permission, or use the site in a way that harms it or other people. Links to other websites are provided for convenience, and we are not responsible for their content.
Our website is provided "as is." To the fullest extent the law allows, Written in Hope will not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim relating to our website or services will not exceed the amount you paid us for the project involved. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so these may not apply to you in full.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oklahoma, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. If a concern arises, please contact us first; most issues can be resolved through a direct conversation. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Oklahoma.
We may update these Terms from time to time. The version posted on this page, with its effective date, applies to your use of the website. Changes will not alter the terms of a project agreement you have already signed.

We know plans change, and that families in this season of life face real uncertainty. This policy is designed to be fair to your family and to the time, travel, and people we commit to your story. Your project agreement confirms these terms for your project.
Your collection price is paid in four parts, so that payments follow the work:
Each payment is due within 7 days of its invoice, and the next stage of work begins once it is received. Travel costs are invoiced separately, as agreed before booking.
Once visits begin, we have reserved our time, traveled, and paid the people who help capture and prepare your story, so payments for work already performed are non-refundable. You may stop your project at any time, and no further payments will be due.
Until a project is paid in full, Written in Hope LLC retains ownership of the transcripts, research, writing, and designs it has created.
If the storyteller becomes unable to continue or passes away during the project, your family may choose one of the following:
Once you approve your book for printing, printing costs are non-refundable. If a book arrives damaged or with a printing defect, tell us within 30 days and we will replace it at no cost.
Visits can be rescheduled at no charge with 48 hours' notice. Travel already booked for a rescheduled or cancelled visit is non-refundable.
If Written in Hope must cancel your project, or cannot complete it because of a problem on our side, such as lost files, we will refund in full, including payment-processing fees, every payment for work not delivered, and we will deliver everything completed so far.
Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method within 10 business days. Payment-processing fees are not refundable, except when we cancel or cannot deliver as described above.
Please contact us at hello@writteninhope.com. We would much rather talk through a concern than have a family feel unheard.
