Privacy Policy

Effective October 1, 2026

Written in Hope LLC ("Written in Hope," "we," "us") helps families preserve the life stories of the people they love. Those stories are personal, and we treat them that way. This policy explains what information we collect through writteninhope.com and our services, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information you give us

When you contact us or work with us, we may collect:

  • Inquiry details: your name, email address, and the name or relationship of the person you would like to celebrate.
  • Communications: messages, phone or video calls, and scheduling details.
  • Project materials: audio recordings and transcripts of conversations, photographs, letters, documents, family names, dates, and places, and the memories shared with us. These materials may include information about the storyteller and about other family members.
  • Payment information: payments are processed by our payment provider, Stripe. We receive confirmation of payment and limited details such as the last four digits of a card, but we do not see or store full card numbers.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our hosting provider records basic technical information when you visit, such as your browser type, device, the pages you view, and an approximate location derived from your IP address. We use this information to keep the site secure and to understand, in aggregate, how visitors use it. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not sell or share information for targeted advertising.

Sensitive and personal stories

Life stories can touch on health, faith, family relationships, loss, and other private matters. You and the storyteller decide what to share. We use these materials only to research, write, and produce your family's book and archive, and you may ask us to leave any subject out.

How we use information

  • To respond to your inquiry and plan your project.
  • To conduct and record conversations, research historical context, and write, edit, design, and print your book.
  • To prepare and deliver your private digital archive.
  • To process payments and keep business and tax records.
  • To improve our services and keep our website secure.

Tools that support our work

We may use transcription, drafting, and research software to support our work. Kim personally leads every conversation, and every word is reviewed and edited by a person. We choose providers and settings designed to keep your materials private, and we use these tools only to produce your project. We do not use your family's materials to train public artificial intelligence models.

When we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed to deliver our services, with:

  • Service providers who help us operate, such as website hosting, email and secure file storage, payment processing, transcription, printing, and bookbinding. They may use your information only to provide their services to us.
  • Anyone you ask us to share it with, such as family members participating in your project.
  • Authorities, when required by law or to protect the rights and safety of others.

We will never publish your family's story, recordings, or photographs, or use them as a sample or in marketing, without your written permission.

How long we keep information

If you inquire but do not begin a project, we keep your inquiry for up to two years and then delete it. Project materials are kept for the period described in your project agreement so that we can deliver your archive and print additional copies. We keep payment and business records as long as the law requires. You may ask us to delete your materials sooner, subject to those legal requirements.

Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, including access-controlled storage and secure payment processing, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your choices

You may ask to see, correct, download, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to stop contacting you. Email us at hello@writteninhope.com and we will respond within 30 days. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law, and we will honor them.

Children

Our website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information online from children under 13. Children may appear in family stories or photographs that adults share with us, and we treat that information with the same care as the rest of your project.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page with a new effective date and, for significant changes, notify current clients by email.
